Sugino RD2 Messenger Crankset – Lightweight Urban Riding Setup

Coming from legendary Japanese manufacturer Sugino, the RD2 Messenger is their mid-level track crankset with an 1/8″ chainring. It fits most frames, including conversions (with wider bottom bracket spindles).

Cold forged alloy arms and a stiff disc-like aluminum chain ring will work for most riders – especially those not needing or wanting to upgrade to the pricier track-specific 75.

Notes:

This crankset takes a JIS square taper 103mm bottom bracket, which is not included. However, you can add the Sugino BB3 (but don’t use the incompatible Sugino 75 BB) or a Tange bottom bracket as options. For conversions, you can also get a longer BB spindle for clearance. 

The black version is slightly more expensive given the more expensive anodizing process versus the polished silver model.
